Chapter Seventeen

An unfamiliar alarm jolted Amy out of sleep. The morning light came from a weird place, the bed warm with another body. Caro. Caro’s bed. She was naked beside Caro in Caro’s bed.

Smiling, she rolled over and wrapped her arm around Caro’s midsection. She kissed her shoulder. Caro squinted and smiled back. “Hi,” she croaked.

“Hi.”

She curled a warm arm around Amy’s hips. “Sleep okay?”

“Mmmhmm. What time is it?”

“Early. Go back to sleep.”

“Snooze?”

“Hmm?”

“Did you hit snooze?” Amy clarified.

“Nah. I get up when the alarm goes off.”

Not surprising. She scooted closer, shoving a thigh between Caro’s and nestling her head beneath her chin. “Snooze anyway?”

The weight of Caro’s arm rested against her back. Her fingers stroked Amy’s skin. So warm and soothing. Sleep began to pull her under.

“Sorry. I have to get up.” Caro gently pulled away.

Amy managed a low groan of disappointment.

“I know, I know. Adulting sucks.” Caro kissed her, then smiled her crooked grin and kissed her again. “Get some extra sleep.”

She slid out of bed, providing a lovely view of her round ass and legs of steel. Amy nestled under the covers, hugging Caro’s pillow. It still held her scent. A giggle bubbled up in her throat. She’d spent the night with Caro Cassidy. Caro Cassidy! Birds chirped merrily outside like they were saying, “I know, right?”

Memories of last night flitted in and out. Caro was so different in bed than Amy’d expected. Her leadership qualities kicked into high gear. And she hadn’t been joking about wanting to watch Amy in the throes of passion. Amy liked being the giver of pleasure and was used to doing a lot of the work. She always enjoyed a strong partner who took over, but Caro was just...incredible.

Doug drew in a deep breath and rolled over on his dog bed against the wall. The sound of the shower turning on came from the bathroom. She should totally jump in there with Caro. That would require getting up, and this bed was comfy and warm.

What time was it? She fumbled for her phone on the bedside table, but it wasn’t there. Where was it? On the floor somewhere. In between rounds two and three last night, she’d sent that quick text to Mom to let her know she was staying at Caro’s. So her parents knew she’d slept with her boss. Awesome. They did like Caro, though. Thought she was funny and smart and had a good head on her shoulders.

How would Kris react to this? Ugh. The last thing she wanted was a lecture when she’d had such an incredible night. This was an afterglow that needed to last.

How was she gonna get her gym bag from the car? She’d tossed a change of clothes in the trunk in anticipation of sexytimes. Didn’t want to show up at work wearing the same thing as yesterday. Which yes, in the global scheme of things, wouldn’t be so weird since they had specific coach attire, but still, clean underwear and all...

How bad did her breath smell? The air conditioner starting up sounded like a dragon grumbling to life.
